Jill Does Well at East Alabama Motor Speedway Saturday Night!
Jill George and Jill George Racing made some changes in plans this past weekend and raced at the Southern All-Stars Race at East Alabama Speedway. It turns out that this was a great decision….Jill practiced her new Rocket as the 11th fastest car of a field of 31 cars and then qualified the car 10th. The top 8 qualifiers were automatic into the A main. So, Jill started the second B Main on the pole and led the race start to finish, lapping 4 cars and winning by over a straightaway. This finish put her 10th on the grid to start the $5,000 to win A main. Jill was running a solid 8th with 17 to go in the feature and moving forward when a "slide job" gone bad by a fellow competitor knocked in the filler panel and cut an oil line. Nontheless, it was a great night and the start to what is hoped to be an outstanding 2013 season. "I was thrilled by the quality of this car. It was flaweless and after the battle I had last year with a car that had some issues, it really was fun. I was fast, and I think I could have gotten to 5th or so in the feature (won by Jonathan Davenport, followed by the Cat Daddy, Clint Smith). It was a great start to the season and I hope it shows everyone that I am back, that I can do this, and that I am committed to doing everything I can to race at this level."
